[divider]Editor’s Note[/divider]
The following, written by the Paly Guidance team, is a response to an editorial published in the Oct. 20, 2017 issue of The Campanile entitled “CCC should consider reform.”
[divider]Letter to the Editors[/divider]
The Paly Guidance team was thankful for the invitation to visit The Campanile class last week after sharing some of our concerns about recent editorials entitled “CCC Should Consider Reform” and “CCC and Advisory Ought to Publicize College Deadlines.” We learned that several students are not accessing information shared via traditional modes of communication; we will address those concerns moving forward. We hope you learned that some of our practices exist due to complexities we’ve attempted to manage as best we believe we can.
While we welcome feedback and suggestions for improvement, as journalists, we expect you to investigate to learn more about our current practices before publishing criticism about them. As originally published, the editorials contain inaccuracies and misrepresentations. We value our relationship with students; as members of the same Paly community, we were disappointed not to have the opportunity to engage in discussion with you before these editorials were published instead of being compelled to address them afterward.
We encourage all students to provide formal feedback about the C&CC and Advisory during the end-of the-year Guidance surveys we administer in Advisory.
Thank you for directing your readers to our revised, formal responses to each editorial, published online.
