Spirit week themes decided

In preparation for Paly’s 2012 Spirit Week, the freshman, sophomore, junior and senior classes have already discussed and decided on their respective Spirit Week themes.

The freshman class chose the theme of Finding Nemo in order to go along with their color orange. Though this theme was chosen by the class, there are many who do not support this theme.

“I don’t like the theme Finding Nemo,” freshman Cameron Huard said. “You can’t find a Nemo costume anywhere, and there is like only one fish in the movie that’s orange [in the movie].”

The sophomore class, which wears red, decided its theme would be the Red Carpet and would feature celebrity type costumes and accessories.

“[Our theme] has a lot more flexibility than last year’s [jailbreak] theme, so if you don’t really have the time to go out and plan an outfit, you can still be spirited,” sophomore Michelle Xie said. “You could go really simple by throwing on a regular party outfit and some heels and makeup, but you could also go really far and actually dress up like a certain celebrity.”

The junior class has chosen “royalty” as its theme, in accordance with its class color, yellow. This theme was chosen despite dispute over possible other options.

“I’m fine with royalty as the theme, but I prefered the Magic School bus,” junior Andrew Liang said. “Magic School bus is more versatile, and you can be more creative with stuff to wear.”

To go along with its class color, green, the senior class chose The Matrix as its theme.

“The matrix theme, [recommended by senior Joshua Oh], is a vast improvement from our past themes,” senior Aldis Petriceks said. “[Oh] is a creative genius. I’m excited to put on some Spirit Week clothes and then wear my Adam Morrison tank again on camo day.”

Spirit Week will take place during the second last week of October, starting October 22.
