BREAKING NEWS: All Santa Clara County public schools shut down for three weeks due to coronavirus concerns

All schools in Santa Clara County will be closed starting Monday, March 16 for a minimum of three weeks to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus, according to an announcement made by County Superintendent Mary Ann Dewan at 12 p.m. today. Paly spring break, originally scheduled for April 6-10, will extend the PAUSD school closure period to a minimum of four weeks.

Following yesterday’s emergency board meeting detailing plans to keep schools open, Superintendent Don Austin said administration planned to follow county guidelines on school closures.

According to Austin, no school districts will have to make up lost instructional minutes and school will not be extended into the summer as a result of the closure.

This story will be updated as new information becomes available.
