Seniors win 25-20 against staff at Winter Rally basketball game

Seniors prevailed against staff in a 25-20 victory during the annual Winter Rally basketball game. ASB also revealed the prom location, the San Francisco Exploratorium.

Senior Emma Lee said she enjoyed the playful competitiveness between students and teachers.

“The energy was definitely there, and it was really fun playing one last time with all my friends,” Lee said. “I think it shows that there can be rivalry without being too serious, and it’s fun that the teachers and the students still have a deeper connection after the game.”

Junior and ASB Athletic Commissioner Malcolm Ginwalla said the spirit at the rally exceeded his expectations.

“This is one of the biggest ways that we get student engagement, because (with) student versus staff, the competition takes a level up,” Ginwalla said. “You get to see your favorite teachers going (against) some of your friends on the floor, and it’s really just a great environment. I thought it was a really great experience, and I can’t wait for us to play next year.”

Special education therapist Ryan Fabie, who was on the staff team, said the game was a great opportunity to engage with students outside the classroom.

“I see kids in the office most of the day, (but) I don’t get (to see) kids to come out and have fun like this,” Fabie said. “It’s fun to engage with the students outside the office and have community building.”
