Boys Lacrosse triumphed over Woodside Priory High School 5-3 in Thursday’s home game.
The Paly team had a strong 4-1 lead, but Priory started to close the gap in the second half. However, the Panthers were ultimately unable to complete the comeback.
Coach Tyler Reynolds said the team’s win was a result of their consistent practice.
“We’re second place in the league,” Reynolds said. “So we’re continuing day by day in practice. Even during the game, we’re improving and getting better.”
Senior attacker Shalin Dwivedi said their first-half performance was representative of the effort and practice they have put in this season.
“We started off strong in the first half,” Dwivedi said. “We kind of slowed down in the 2nd half, but I think we built up a lead, so we could kind of afford that.”
Reynolds said this slowing down was a result of mental fatigue as the game progressed.
“I think that most of the things that we saw during the game were mental mistakes at the end,” Reynolds said.
Looking forward, Reynolds said the team could improve their psychological edge in the game.
“We can really improve on (the) next play mentality,” Reynolds said. “Let’s say you get a turnover and mess up. Next play, don’t be down on yourself.”
