On Thursday, Feb. 5, boys soccer tied Los Gatos 0-0.
Sophomore Brian Chung said the energy was especially high during the game.
“The vibes were great,” Chung said “The bench was hyping us up and we were playing really well. I think this was our best game of the season.”
Senior James Park said that while defense performed well, the team still needs to focus on improving its offense.
“We need to work on our attacking sequences,” Park said. “Once we get the ball to the attacking half, we need to work on building on that so we can make clean finishes.”
Senior Liam Johnson agreed with Chung and Park and said consistency and sustained effort is important.
“The bench was super supportive and created an amazing environment for everybody,” Johnson said. “Today was a great performance, (but) we just need to work on our consistency and putting the ball into the back of the net.”
Overall, Park said the team’s chemistry has improved significantly since the start of the season.
“We’re much better,” Park said. “Now that the new guys have trained with each other, we know what everyone likes and what they don’t like. We’re more fluid in our playstyle overall.”
Looking ahead, Johnson said the team is motivated to compete at the upcoming CCS tournament.
“We’ve had some great results lately and everybody is super motivated going into CCS,” Johnson said. “We just need to train hard these next few weeks to give ourselves the best shot in the tournament.”
