ASB hosted the second Paly Thrift Fair on Thursday, Mar. 14 to allow students to donate old clothes and find new ones for free.

Event organizer and Sophomore Class Senator Simone Batra said she hoped the Thrift Fair would promote students to consider sustainability and connect with likeminded people.

“The bags of clothes I had sitting around were not going to anyone who needed it, and I thought I would organize this thrift fair so (students could) find new pieces of clothing that could help them express themselves more,” Batra said. “Also, the proceeds that are not (picked up) will go to Goodwill or another donation service that gives people in need more clothes.”

ASB Publicity Commissioner Jessica Wong, who helped set up the thrift fair, said part of the fair’s appeal was the clothes being free, which helped attract people to the event and inspire environmentally-friendly choices.

“Reusing clothes instead of using fast fashion is better for the environment and for the people,” Wong said.

Junior Akiva Forrester said he enjoyed looking through an assortment of clothes and seeing people contribute their personal taste to the fair.

Forrester said, “Each person has their own various style and fashion choice they want to express, so being able to freely look through (clothes) is something you might as well try.”
