Girls varsity lacrosse defeated Los Gatos 19-6 at home on March 30.
Senior attacker Natalie said that the team found their rhythm early and managed to keep up momentum throughout the game.
“Our communication on offense was really good, and we got ahead… right off the bat,” Dymmel said. “In addition our defense was … on fire with shutting the girls down and causing transitions to get the ball back on offense.”
Head Coach Kaitlin Chu said that the team played very well.
“They played really cohesively,” Chu said. “We did a really good job with our crashes, that was very key and we had a lot of great saves from our goalie.”
Senior Keeper Roni Horovitz made many crucial saves against Los Gatos and said motivation came from her team cheering.
“(We had) excellent energy, we came out really strong which really helped me because when the team is doing great I feel like I’m also doing great.” Horovitz said. “Our defense was doing very well today which really helped me out.”
Despite the team’s strong performance, they were down in the first few minutes of the game. Chu said that the team took time to adapt to their playstyle.
“We realized after that we needed to get more movement,” Chu said. “We also didn’t know what to expect from their defensive standpoint so we had to figure out how to play.”
Their victory extends their league record to 5-1, showing a strong start to the season. Dymmel said that this win helps them keep their winning momentum.
“(It is) a big push in our momentum mindset wise, which is one of the biggest things in any sport,” Dymmel said. “Just knowing that we’re going to do our best and our best is enough and we know our capabilities and beating (Los Gatos) is definitely big for that as we grow as a team.”
